DeKALB – Former NIU sophomore forward Yanic Konan Niederhauser announced his commitment to The Pennsylvania State University for the 2024-25 season via his Instagram Monday night.

Konan Niederhauser is the first of seven 2023-24 Huskies who entered the transfer portal to find a new home. The Fraschels, Switzerland, native is one of three 2023-24 Huskies who entered their name in the NBA Draft while still maintaining college eligibility. Junior guards David Coit and Zarique Nutter are also testing the NBA Draft waters.

Konan Niederhauser spent two seasons at NIU, appearing in 47 games and making 28 starts. After seeing limited play time during his freshman season, Niederhauser anchored the Huskies’ defense in 2023-24, leading the MAC with 2.1 blocks per game

The 6-foot-11-inch big man finished his NIU career with averages of 5.1 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game and just over 1.4 blocks per game. In a starting role in 2023-24, Konan Niederhauser averaged 7.3 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Konan Niederhauser’s best game in a Huskie uniform came in his final home game on March 5 against Central Michigan University. Konan Niederhauser scored a career-high 27 points on 9-for-11 shooting, grabbed 8 rebounds and swatted away three shots.
