DeKALB – Common Table DeKalb is a new program that will provide free community meals.
Common Table DeKalb (CTD) is a collaborative that includes individuals from the area, non-profit organizations and local faith communities.
The collaborators include Rooted for Good (formerly DeKalb County Community Gardens), New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, First Congregational UCC of DeKalb, Farmworker and Landscaper Advocacy Project, First United Methodist Church of DeKalb, Federated Church of Sycamore, DeKalb Migrant Aid, Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of DeKalb, DeKalb County History Center, DeKalb Area Belonging Council, CORE Collective and Barb Food Mart.
Despite collaboration from many churches, CTD is a secular project.
Frankie DiCiaccio, an NIU professor at the School of Theatre and Dance, is the CTD project coordinator.
The Chicago Food System Fund awarded the CTD with a $150,000 Community Unity Initiative grant in Fall 2024.
Common Table DeKalb is open to people online who register once it is available.
