DeKALB – NIU’s College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (CEET) will host its Innovation Showcase: The Road to 2035 on Nov. 14.
The event will be dedicated to showcasing various engineering breakthroughs and innovations, as well as spotlight the transformative technologies and research driving the next decade of engineering innovation.
The showcase will begin with registration, poster sessions and networking from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by two faculty-industry panels including materials and advanced manufacturing, as well as AI, controls and analytics.
The morning panel will feature materials and advanced manufacturing from 11 a.m. to noon and will feature CEET professor Venu Korampally, associate professor Mahdi Vaezi and assistant professor Vinay Budhraja. Dukane Corperation, a global leader in plastic welding technologies, will also be featured in this panel.
An induction ceremony of the NIU chapter of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) will follow.
The afternoon program, which occurs from 12:45 p.m. to 1:15 p.m., will include the induction of the first four members of the CEET Hall of Fame. Those inducted include: CEET founding Dean Romualdas Kasuba, retired Dean Promod Vohra, alumnus Joe Sener and alumna Divya Behl.
The AI, controls and analytics panel, which starts at 1:15 p.m., will include professor Lichuan Liu, associate professor Christine Nguyen and associate professor Sachit Butail. Art Holzknecht, an engineering manager at Hiwin, will be featured as well.
The event will conclude with a few remarks from Dean David Grewell at 2:15 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., reflecting on the ideas and innovations shaping CEET’s path towards 2035.
This event will be held in the Engineering Building, 590 Garden Road.
