Graduate students, are you worried about finding a career after graduation? From 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday Beyond Graduate School (BGS) is hosting a webinar to help graduate students ensure they have the tools to find career success after graduation.
BGS is an online platform separate from NIU made to help graduate students build a career after graduation. They provide services such as job application building and 30 minute webinars on career exploration.
In this webinar BGS will discuss topics such as challenges in the job market of today and how to navigate them.
Other topics that will be discussed include how to prepare for a competitive job market and focus on things you can control to advance your career.
Mary Ann Warren, a graduate student success coordinator at NIU, talked about what to expect at Beyond Graduate School webinars.
“They have deep dives. So it’s a whole lesson planned that students can go through with a lot of different resources and questions. And, you know, each of these deep dives goes into detail about certain topics. They do academic skills, career exploration, how to start your LinkedIn, use that for your job.” Warren said.
According to Warren, what separates this event from other career services at NIU is it is specifically targeted toward graduate students.
“We wanted to specifically help graduate students address the needs that they have,” Warren said. “We’ve had Beyond Grad School for a couple of years now, and so we wanted to help them, because graduate students are different than undergrad students, and they’re looking for usually higher level jobs. And so they need that extra information.”
If you are interested, the webinar is free for all and you can register to attend at the Beyond Graduate School website. If you miss it, you can also register and watch the replay through BGS.
