DeKALB – The Spring Involvement Fair at NIU provided both incoming and returning students the opportunity to learn about the organizations and clubs active during the spring semester.
The Involvement Fair took place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Holmes Student Center’s Duke Ellington Ballroom.
Over 200 student Organizations and clubs partook in the fair, ranging from U.N.O, to BSU, and even Greek life.
While participating in the fair, Joe Shores, a sophomore majoring in finance, focused on sharing the goals of NIU CAUSE with passing students.
“We would definitely like to collaborate more with other organizations,” Shores said. “We’re looking for anybody to collaborate with who wants to either grow their business or grow their organization for a better impact on the university community,” Shores said.
Victor Awoyemi, a sophomore majoring in pre-med and member of the Black Student Health Association, explains that clubs should focus on connection and outreach.
“Our goal is to just reach out to more people, and make a house for people to move into,” says Awoyemi.
For Awoyemi, the fair represents an opportunity to connect with others and to build a community on campus.
“I’m just trying to be more social,” Awoyemi said. “The goal is to make new friends.”
To Adrian Garcia, a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering, the fair also served as a way for students to branch out and meet new people across campus.
“I looked for new involvements,” Garcia said. “It’s good to learn about new people. I want to continue to make new friends, come around and make new connections. You never know who you might meet.”
The next Involvement Fair is set to take place at the beginning of the 2026 fall semester.
