For just a $10 donation, you can have the name of an ex, enemy or someone you dislike written on a dog-poop bag and a piece of paper placed in a litter box.
If you’re feeling bitter this Valentine’s season, this could be the perfect way to exact some revenge.
The Tails Humane Society — located at 2250 Barber Greene Road — is hosting its annual Anti-Valentine’s Day fundraiser.
Optionally, you can add the reason for choosing the name you wrote. Tails assures the reasons will be kept anonymous and that this is just for venting purposes.
Tickets for the event can be purchased online on the shelter’s website until 9 a.m. Monday.
According to Kerina Evenson, events and marketing manager, the fundraiser has become an annual tradition.
The idea came from other animal shelters, but this year the organization decided they wanted to mix it up.
“We’ve done the litter box one for several years now, but this is the first time we’re doing the doggy-poop bag,” Evenson said.
The reason for the addition is to increase participation in the event.
“The turnout is generally pretty good. We generally have about 30 names or so every year. This year, we’re wanting to grow it to be something a little bit bigger,” Evenson said.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the animal shelter.
“One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit the shelter animals here, from our little itty-bittiest kitties to our largest dogs,” Evenson said.
The next fundraising event from Tails will be “Dine at Giordano’s” from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Feb. 24 at the Sycamore Giordano’s located at 1840 DeKalb Ave.
RSVP by Feb. 20 online to secure your spot. The organization needs a minimum of 20 RSVPs to secure the fundraiser.
Twenty percent of dine in or take out orders will go towards the fundraiser. All proceeds will benefit homeless pets.
