The College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (CEET) will host its job and internship fair from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center.
The CEET Job and Internship Fair is specifically for CEET students to help them connect with employers.
Matt Baron, director of marketing and communications for the College of Engineering, explained how companies get in contact for the CEET job fairs.
“We have our main recruiter, Gary Smith, and so he’s built up a contact list of companies that have been at prior job fairs as well as companies that we’re familiar with in different ways,” Baron said. “There’s hundreds of companies that we’re in touch with, and then from there we’ll have about 50 coming to this next one, and that’s about what we’ve had in the past.”
There are a range of companies at this job fair, such as BeStar Technologies, Brindley Engineering and Haumiller Engineering.
Baron said there are numerous skills students can gain from attending this job fair.
“For different students there can be different goals that get achieved. We encourage younger students, freshmen and sophomores, to attend these fairs,” Baron said. “Sometimes they might secure a position, but even more so, they start to build the skills, the networking skills and the interpersonal skills that are really gonna serve them well as they get older and as they’re getting closer to graduation.”
The job fair is free for students to attend. Baron recommends arriving early.
“If you can get there early that’s when companies, that’s when people are freshest early on,” Baron said. “If you get there at 2:28 p.m., you know they’re kind of really winding down, and they’ve already seen hundreds of students. It might be hard to leave an impression at that point.”
The full list of companies that will be at the job fair can be found through the Career Services website.
