Today

Celebrate the independence of seven Latin American countries at the seventh Annual El Grito at 6 p.m at the Latino Resource Center. The fiesta will include food, entertainment and music.

Friday

Join Amanda Littauer, assistant professor of Women’s Studies, as she celebrates her new book, “Bad Girls: Young Women, Sex, and Rebellion before the Sixties.” Littauer will speak about how the book examines the origins of the 1960s sexual revolution. The reception begins at 2 p.m. in Swen Parson Hall, Thurgood Marshall Gallery.

Support your fellow Huskies at La Voz Latina as they perform live songs in Spanish and share Latino culture with the campus. The music begins at 4 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center, Carl Sandburg Auditorium.

Saturday

Check out the Stage Coach Player’s play, “The Graduate.” The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are available on the stage Coach players’ website, stagecoachers.com. Read Scene writer Deanna Frances’ review of “The Graduate” at bit.ly/1Yd0sck.

Sunday

The Barb City Stompers jazz band will take DeKalb by storm at 1 p.m. at the House Cafe, 263 E. Lincoln Highway. The Barb City Stompers offer a sound described as “Hot-Swing Trad,” according to the group. This event is free and open to the public.

Bring a dish, a chair, beverages and lots of love to the Welcome Home Party in Fairdale Park, at the corner of Main and Brown Streets in Fairdale. Attendees will honor all that was lost after the April 9 tornado that struck Fairdale and destroyed several homes. Come and celebrate the community for coming together in a time of need.
