Football’s Marlon Moore suspended for first half of Saturday game

Junior strong safety Marlon Moore will be suspended from the first half of Saturday’s football game for violation of the MAC’s sportsmanship conduct policy, according to a MAC news release.

Moore is one of three MAC players to be suspended for the first half of games this weekend.

Moore was ejected in the second half of Saturday’s Homecoming game for throwing a punch. If he had been ejected in the first half of the game he would have had to sit out the second half. Since his ejection was in the second half the suspension carries over to the first half of Saturday’s game.

“Actions like these are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” said MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher, according to the news release. “I would like to thank our head coaches and administrators on all three campuses for their prompt attention to address this matter.”

Redshirt freshman Brandon Mayes, who’s been the Huskies’ starting nickelback, will fill in for Moore. Mayes had 14 total tackles and one forced fumble on the season.

“Brandon’s played a lot of football for us,” defensive coordinator Jay Niemann said. “… He’s been on the field substantially, and I expect him to go in and play well.”
