Asking students about their interest in Donald Trump impeachment trial

By Kennedy Jones

The Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump has now entered its fifth day according National Public Radio. Several students in DuSable Hall were asked if they had been following the impeachment trial and what their thoughts are on the subject. Here are some of their responses:

“I like to be informed, but I won’t say I’m very interested. To be honest I would rather not be watching [the trial]. I would rather not have watched the last four years [of this presidency] either.” -Kamrin Gustave

“Not really. I’ve been seeing whatever pops up, but I’m not really paying attention.” -Laura Serna

“Yes, I try and get updated every night. I watched the opening statements yesterday on TV.” -Amanda Grady

“[I’ve seen] very little. I don’t really watch the news on TV or read news articles. I just see stuff on Reddit, which probably isn’t the best source.” -Bianca

“Lately I haven’t seen much. [The last information I saw was] like two weeks ago.” -Carlos

“I am an international student from Thailand. I didn’t know that [Trump had even been impeached]. I have been following the issue with [Iran], but I didn’t know about the issue of him getting removed [from office]. I am [now] interested in that.” -Songwut Bhattarachaiyakorn

“No, but I know it’s happening.” -Frannie

“I’ve seen an article about it probably every day, but I haven’t read [them] that closely” -Thaddeus Thompson
