Harrison needs to keep his mouth shut and his head in the game

By Brian Belford

James Harrison, Pro-Bowl linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the most fined player in the game because of his vicious hits on opposing players, blasted teammates, colleagues, coaches and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in a recent article that came out for Men’s Journal Magazine.

Harrison, considered by many to be the best outside linebacker in the game today, posed for the story titled, “The Hitman” in a picture that had him holding two hand-guns across his bare chest. He went on to call Goodell a homosexual slur, said teammate Rashard Mendenhall fumbled too much, that teammate Ben Roethlisberger threw too many picks, called former New England Patriot safety Rodney Harrison a clown and said Green Bay Packer linebacker Clay Matthews is overrated.

Harrison is a multi-million dollar athlete who lives in a great neighborhood in a posh pad and has absolutely no need for semi-automatic weapons. He is not a gangster. He hits people with pads. Insulting your teammates, commissioner and coaches really sheds light on the education you received from Kent State, that bastion of academia outside of Cleveland, Ohio.

Because of your comments, I can’t wait for the day some beefy offensive lineman, who can probably bench press you, punches you in the face and breaks your jaw.

You’re an insult to the game of pro-football. The likes of Dick Butkus, Jack Lambert, Chuck Bednarik and Ronnie Lott, renowned bone-crushing NFL veterans, must be infuriated by you.

Stop with the macho man image. You would never make it on the South Side of Chicago. You would get robbed in Compton, but maybe your used to that because you get robbed by the NFL on a weekly basis. You may have wanted to make a statement with this article, but now you have a target on your back.

Shut up, and let your play on the field do the talking.
