Winter Farmer’s Market to be held on Dec. 10
November 27, 2022
DeKALB – The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of DeKalb, 158 N Fourth Street, will host its Winter Farmers’ Market this holiday season to support local farmers and artists.
The farmers’ market will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 10. Admission is $1 per person.
“After a long hiatus due to COVID, we are very excited to be back hosting this annual community event,” said UUFD market coordinator Dorothy Coleman. “It has always been a popular holiday shopping experience that supports local vendors offering a wide variety of products.”
The farmers’ market will feature homemade foods, a used book sale and live music, according to the church’s news release.
Patrons can also expect to see handmade jewelry, soaps, ceramics and more at the event.
“It is important to shop local,” Coleman said. “When you buy directly from a local farmer or artist, the money you spend multiplies throughout the community instead of leaving the county. It supports and helps build a strong local DeKalb County economy.”
A popular highlight of the farmers’ market is the food, including grass-fed meat and dairy from Hasselmann Family Farm, locally raised honey from Charter Grove Honey Farm, French pastries from Fraternité Notre Dame Catholic Church and baked goods from St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
The used book sale will feature hardcover and paperback books for $2 or less.
“This year we have lots of new inventory in a variety of categories for all ages and interests,” said UUFD book sale coordinator Danica Lovings. “So if you’ve visited the sale in the past, you will not see the same books on the tables this year.”
Local farmers and artisans who are interested in selling their products at the farmers’ market can contact the church’s office at 815-756-7089 or [email protected].
