Happy second week of classes! This week, I’m recommending songs to either match your potential mood or to maybe alter it for the better. 

Aries (March 21 – April 20)

Your song: “Extraordinary Machine” by Fiona Apple

Fiona Apple may be best known for “Criminal,” but her beautiful, almost operatic vocals don’t get a chance to shine in “Criminal” as they do in “Extraordinary Machine.” Let this song lift you up this week.

Taurus (April 21 – May 20)

Your song: “Tundra” by Ola Gjeilo

I know, picking a choral piece is an odd choice. Just listen to it and let the gorgeous harmonies wash over you (and hopefully relax you). This week, try to take a breath and have a moment of peace.

Gemini (May 21 – June 21)

Your song: “Cover Girl” by RuPaul

This song is for everyone who needs a reminder that they are fabulous. Geminis and Gemini placements, “let your whole body talk” this week.

Cancer (June 22 – July 22)

Your song: “We Pretend” by Jen and Kat

If you feel like you’re just going through the motions, this song is for you. “So we’re stuck right here / So we’re stuck right here,” the sister duo sings in the pre-chorus. 

Leo (July 23 – Aug. 23)

Your song: “Good Morning Baltimore” from “Hairspray”

Is everything coming up roses for you recently? If not, it will! Celebrate the future and all its potential for excitement with the bouncy and optimistic opening track to “Hairspray.”

Virgo (Aug. 24 – Sept. 23)

Your song: “Coconut Oil” by Lizzo

Powerhouse performer Lizzo gives good advice in “Coconut Oil” that Virgos would do well to follow this week. Self-care, and perhaps some actual coconut oil, will do wonders for you if you let it.

Libra (Sept. 24 – Oct. 23)

Your song: “I Have Confidence” from “The Sound of Music”

Julie Andrews is a queen in musical theater circles, and hopefully this song inspires you to treat yourself like a queen, king or royal this week. You are capable of more than you give yourself credit for.

Scorpio (Oct. 24 – Nov. 22)

Your song: “My Name Is” by Eminem

Are you feeling untouchable this week? You should. This song, while raunchy, is a declaration of not living life following the rules under all its pompous, rapper-lifestyle veneer.

Sagittarius (Nov. 23 – Dec. 21)

Your song: “Basket Case” by Green Day

If the lyric “I am one of those melodramatic fools” doesn’t resonate with you right now, you might be lying to yourself. Let all your emotions out, even if it feels foolish. Life can suck sometimes, and it’s OK to acknowledge that.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 20)

Your song: “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)” by John Lennon

“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans,” Lennon sings in this soothing lullaby to his son. Let life happen to you, and try to be OK with what life throws at you.

Aquarius (Jan. 21 – Feb. 19)

Your song: “Under Pressure” by Queen and David Bowie

Do you feel like crying out “Why can’t we give love?” as the world suffocates you? You and Sagittarius placements can find comfort in each other this week by venting to each other.

Pisces (Feb. 20 – March 20)

Your song: “Over My Head” by FLETCHER

Oh, water sign. Don’t beat yourself up for getting your hopes up. Everything will be OK, but in the meantime, give yourself permission to wallow in the not-so-happy emotions for a while.
