January 31, 2023
DeKALB – NIU football head coach Thomas Hammock announced Tuesday that NIU has added Wesley Beschorner and Adam Breske to its coaching staff.
Beschorner will coach NIU’s running backs and serve as the passing game coordinator. Beske will coach the Huskie linebackers and serve as the special teams coordinator, according to an NIU Athletics press release.
Beschorner has 18 years of college coaching experience, most recently as the head coach of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds for the past three seasons. At UW-Eau Claire, Beschorner coached two All-Americans and led the Blugolds to a victory over the sixth-ranked University of St. Thomas.
In 2016, Beschorner worked as an offensive quality control assistant for the University of Pittsburgh and assisted in the recruitment of Pitt All-American and current Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett.
Before his coaching career, Beschorner was a first-team All-American quarterback at the University of South Dakota. In 2005, Beschorner threw for 3,000 yards and recorded 47 total touchdowns (39 passing, eight rushing) in his senior year. He finished as a runner-up for the Harlon Hill Trophy (Division II MVP) that year and led the Coyotes to a 9-2 record and a North Central Conference championship, according to the press release.
Breske is an 18-year collegiate coaching veteran. He most recently spent the 2022 season as a defensive quality control coach at Washington State University.
Breske spent four seasons at the University of Idaho from 2018 to 2021. Breske worked with inside linebackers during all four seasons and was also promoted to special teams coordinator in 2019.
Before Idaho, Breske served as the linebackers and special teams coach at the University of Sioux Falls for one season in 2017 and was the defensive line coach at Missouri Valley College in 2016. From 2007 to 2015, Breske served as the linebackers coach and was promoted to the defensive coordinator for South Dakota in 2011, according to the press release.
Beschorner and Breske will officially begin their NIU careers Wednesday.
