NIU Esports to play Super Smash Bros. for charity

NIU E-sports will host a Super Smash Bros. tournament at 11 a.m. on Feb. 11 in Room 100 of Altgeld Hall. All proceeds from the tournament will go towards The Trevor Project. (Sean Reed | Northern Star)

Join NIU Esports play in a Super Smash Bros. singles tournament benefitting charity at 11 a.m. on Feb. 11 in Room 100 of Altgeld Hall.

All proceeds from this tournament will go towards The Trevor Project which is an organization that helps supply counseling and support to LGBTQ+ youth. 

There will be first, second, and third place winners. The first place winner will receive a $60 Nintendo Switch game download code, the second place winner will get a $30 Nintendo Switch game download code and the third place winner will get a $15 Nintendo Switch game download code.

The three winners will also receive an NIU Esports Thermos.

There will be vending machines full of snacks and drinks available and open seating. 

Monitors with headphone ports and gaming chairs will be available as well. The first seven players to bring a full setup, including cords and a GameCube adapter, will have their event fee waived.
