NIU School of Theatre and Dance to present ‘in a word’ play

The NIU School of Theatre and Dance will rediscover grief, comedy and all the twists and turns it takes to reconnect with the past in their performance of “in a word” by Lauren Yee.

The play focuses on the two-year anniversary of Fiona Hamlin and Guy’s adopted son Tristan’s disappearance. While still struggling with the aftermath of the tragedy, Fiona and Guy reopen the true circumstances of the ill-fated day while finding reconnection and humor in the single span of an evening.

The NIU production of “in a word” will be directed by Kay Martinovich and Emily Vitrano.

The first performance will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, the second performance will be at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 25, and the third performance will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Stevens Building in the Sally Stevens Players Theatre.

Following performances will be 7:30 p.m. on March 2 and March 3, and the last performance will be at 2 p.m. March 4.

Tickets are free for students and $7 for adults and seniors. For more information visit the College of Visual and Performing Arts website or the event calendar to reserve tickets.
