In today’s world, technology has become an integral part of our lives by making our lives easier and more efficient. But it has also become something of an addiction.

The convenience of technology is a big factor in why we have become so addicted. There is an app for basically everything. With just a few clicks, we can access information, send messages to loved ones and purchase items with applications such as CNN News, Facebook Messenger, Snapchat and Amazon.

In society, we have become so consumed with our phones, tablets and computers that we forget to engage in real-life conversations and activities. We have become so consumed with technology that we essentially block out the world and noise around us. People can become so dependent on technology that they forget how to do everyday tasks without it. This causes us to miss out on important things, such as human interactions, the beauty of nature and life overall.

Technology can also affect relationships with people, especially families, because sometimes adults choose to spend time with technology instead of their own children, creating a negative relationship.

Another major issue with technology is that it can cause us to become easily distracted or to procrastinate more. With notifications constantly popping up on our devices, we are constantly tempted to check emails, social media or other apps. This can cause people to lose focus and be less productive in their work and studies. However, people can put their phones on Do Not Disturb, which could help decrease procrastination.

Technology is not always reliable, especially when it comes to news on social media apps such as Facebook, due to misinformation and fake news. Even though technology provides convenience, it can malfunction or break.

Face-to-face conversation can be more reliable. If you are talking to a person who is an expert in a specific field, then that could be more reliable than finding out news on social media.

There are solutions that can help us not to depend on technology. For example, we can get news from newspapers, which are typically more reliable than getting news from social media, according to Financial Review. We can also get outside more and explore nature.

Technology has made our lives more convenient, however, we should be cautious about how much we rely on it. We should be conscious of our use of technology and manage our dependence on it.
