DeKALB – NIU sophomore guard David Coit was selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 14 Second Team on March 14, according to a press release from NIU Athletics. All-District Honors are voted on by NABC member coaches across NCAA Division I.

The transfer from Atlantic Cape Community College led the Huskies in scoring, averaging 15.5 points per game this season and ranked 11th in the Mid-American Conference in scoring. Coit averaged 16.9 points per game in conference play, which placed him eighth in the MAC.

Coit became the number one scoring option for the Huskies when junior guard Keshawn Williams was lost for the season with a torn ACL on Jan. 7. This opportunity helped Coit record double figures in scoring in 22 games and nine 20+ point games.

In addition to leading NIU in scoring, Coit knocked down 81 three-point field goals this season, the second-most in NIU history. Coit ranked third in the MAC in three-pointers made per game with 2.79.

Coit finished second in MAC play in free throw shooting, converting 89.7% of his foul shots and ranked 13th in assists per game in MAC play with 3.3.

Coit is the first Huskie to make an NABC All-District Team since guard Eugene German in 2019-20.
