Cast Iron Coffee serves up a wide variety of specialty drinks, iced lattes as well as pastries.

Providing a place for students to spend time with friends and work on schoolwork, Cast Iron Coffee has a friendly, inviting atmosphere that sets it apart from typical coffee chains.

The family business was opened by Kyle and Daria Mason in 2020, with “the goal of providing good coffee to DeKalb, IL and Northern Illinois University,” according to their website.

Their unique spring specials include such unexpected items as an Irish cream latte, a mint mocha frappe and a green tea chai.

If you’re looking for original drinks like a lavender honey latte or a salted caramel cold foam iced coffee, consider supporting a local business and check out Cast Iron Coffee. Conveniently located near campus, it’s a great place to hang out if you have some extra time in between classes. They also offer online orders for curbside pickup.

With its diverse menu and warm, comforting qualities, it’s no wonder Cast Iron Coffee is so popular with NIU students and local residents alike.

Cast Iron Coffee is located in the Village Commons Plaza at 901 Lucinda Ave, Suite D. For more information, contact [email protected] or call 815-517-0654.
