DeKALB – Huskie baseball’s trip to Muncie to face the MAC leading Ball State University Cardinals and a pair of MAC Championships highlight another busy week in NIU sports.

The NIU baseball team(6-24, 3-9 MAC) will play two home games this week. The first will be against Northwestern University (5-22) on Tuesday and the second will be against Illinois State University (10-17) on Wednesday. The Huskies will then travel to Muncie to take on the MAC leading Ball State University Cardinals (23-9, 10-2 MAC) for a three-game series over the weekend.

The NIU softball team (18-18, 8-6 MAC) will play four road games this week. The Huskies will first travel to Chicago to take on DePaul University (10-23). They will then head to Ohio to take on the University of Toledo (14-21, 7-10 MAC) in a three game series over the weekend. 

MEN’S TENNIS

Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23: Mid-American Conference (MAC) championship

Kalamazoo, Mich.

NIU men’s tennis (12-9, 4-5 MAC) will host Saint Louis University Billikens on Monday, April 17 at 11 a.m. This event will be held in the Nelson Tennis Center at the Chick Evans Field House. With the season coming to an end after facing the Billikens, the Huskies will travel to Kalamazoo to play in the MAC championship.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Friday, April 21: at Miami University, 12:00 p.m.

Sunday, April 23: vs. Western Michigan.

NIU women’s tennis travels to Oxford for its matchup with Miami University for the first time this season. Miami drafted NIU by a score of 5-2 in the teams’ last meeting last April. Following the away game at Miami, NIU will return home to take on MAC rival Western Michigan University for their second time this season. WMU downed NIU 6-1 in its last meeting on April 2. 

TRACK

NIU women’s track will travel to Texas for the Michael Johnson Invitational and to Urbana-Champaign for the Gary Wieneke Invitational this weekend. The Huskies will be returning from last week’s trip to Azusa, California after the Bryan Clay Invitational.

WOMEN’S GOLF 

Friday, April 21 to Sunday, April 23: MAC Conference Championship

With the spring competition season wrapping up, NIU women’s golf heads to Kalamazoo for the MAC Championship – an all day event from Friday to Sunday. The Huskies’ last tournament was a seventh place finish at the Riverside Classic. Jasmine Ly had NIU’s best individual finish, tying for fourth place. 

MEN’S GOLF 

Friday, April 21 to Sunday, April 23: at Ohio State University (Robert Kepler Intercollegiate) 

Columbus, Ohio / OSU Scarlet Course

NIU men’s golf head to Columbus, Ohio to take on Ohio State University in the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate. The tournament is an all day event starting on Friday and going until Sunday. The Huskies are coming off a 12th place finish at the Mason Rudolph Championship.

Sophomore Ben Sluzas led the way, finishing tied for 33rd place with a score of 216.
