Stonehouse Academic Journal to host celebration, release fifth volume
April 18, 2023
NIU’s Stonehouse Academic Journal is set in stone for it’s fifth volume release and plans to celebrate the occasion with its authors and a handful of artists.
From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Room 405 of the Holmes Student Center, a party will be held to celebrate the publication of the fifth volume of Stonehouse Academic Journal.
Stonehouse is a student-led journal project by Lenora Murphy, an NIU alum and member of Sigma Tau Delta. The majority of the scholarly articles published in Stonehouse Academic Journal are written by NIU undergraduates. The editors of the journal used a scoring competition to select the essays to publish. 10 essays were published in the journal’s fifth volume.
Among the authors included in this edition are Christina Annerino, Brenna Bretzinger, Nick Glover, Chloe Green, Katrina Innamorato, Anna Scanlan, Henry Tomiser, Sophia Walsh and Christine Zugay.
Several artists were also chosen to have their work featured inside the journal as well as on the cover. Killian Becker, Mia Bonds, Chris English, Anastasia Monica and Natalie Thorson are among the artists selected.
Brenna Bretzinger, editor-in-chief of Stonehouse and president of Sigma Tau Delta expressed her excitement for this year’s edition of the journal.
“The process has been really smooth this year,” Bretzinger said. “I’m really excited about all the great essays we got – we got a wide range of essays from the English department, sociology and history, so it was a nice collaboration between the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.”
