The history center has a number of new exhibits and programs available.

Exhibits and programs

“At the History Center everyone is invited, and our exhibit is geared for visitors of all ages,” Michelle Donahoe, Executive Director, said in a press release.

Their current main exhibit is “History of DeKalb County in 100 objects,” which features a variety of important items from throughout DeKalb County’s history.

For younger guests, the center features a scavenger hunt and a train table.

The history center also has the Brown Bag/Local Lore program. This program features art, music and poetry and their importance throughout history.

The next featured guest for this program will be Yvonne Boose, host of WNIJ’s “Poetically Yours,” at noon on May 4.

Donahoe said that Boose will help guests celebrate poetry in the community.

Family recipes

The Culinary Historians of Northern Illinois are partnering with the History Center to collect handwritten family recipes.
