DeKALB – The DeKalb Northland Plaza welcomes HomeGoods to the Dekamore strip.

The Massachusetts-based home decor store began plans for renovating the inside of the building in November and has since put up a sign announcing their soon to be location in the Northland Plaza on 2530 Sycamore Road.

“It’ll be right between the Ross Dress for Less and the Aldi.” said Dan Olson, city of DeKalb planning director. “It’s on their marketing material, there’s a sign up and they’re ready to move in.”

HomeGoods will replace the previous Bed Bath & Beyond location which provided home decor items. The department store specializes in indoor and outdoor furniture including kitchenware, bathroom essentials and bedding.

Olson was able to confirm the HomeGoods will be coming to DeKalb after he began receiving permits for interior work for the 18,269 square foot area, according to Northland Plaza’s real estate site.

“We’re happy that they’re coming to the city. It’s (HomeGoods) a good retailer that has taken up a space in a good location, so we hope they do well,” Olson said.

The Northland Plaza is home to several restaurants like Panda Express and Egg Haven Pancakes and Cafe, while the back lot features more retail businesses including Hobby Lobby, PetSmart and an Aldi grocery store.

HomeGoods has not confirmed the exact date for the store’s opening, but it is in the process of completing constructions for the outside and interior of its building.
