NIU to host sports festival
Children ages 2-13 are invited to play games and meet with NIU student-athletes across multiple sports during Victor E’s Sports Fest. Parents, alumni and fans of all ages can check out the Gear Sale inside the Chessick Practice Center.
Both activities will start at 10-11:45 am Saturday before the NIU Football Spring Showcase begins at noon in the Huskie Stadium. All events are free to the public. Parking is available on the streets surrounding Huskie Stadium and in Lots P and PS across the street from Ralph McKinzie Field at Walt and Janice Owens Park.
Kids are invited to participate on various sports with NIU student-athletes. Athletes from the basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, golf and wrestling team will be in attendance. Stations will be located on the basketball and tennis courts and grassy areas adjacent to the Chessick Practice Center, as well as inside the Chessick Center.
There will also be other activities available for kids such as face-painting and a coloring station. They also will have a chance to take a picture with Victor E. Huskie
The Spring showcase will start at Noon and fans are invited to bring their family out to check out the 2023 Huskies. Following their practice, NIU head coach Thomas Hammock will be on the field with his player signing autographs on a 2023 schedule poster.
