DeKALB – The information in this report is compiled from the NIU Police Department’s Daily Crime Log.

Any case defined as “unfounded” was not included in this list. Any case “closed by exception” means the case is closed due to circumstances outside of the investigation (missing a complainant, suspect was arrested for another crime, etc.). Any “suspended” case means the investigation is paused until leads become available. All case dispositions (“open” or “closed” statuses) are subject to updates. All locations provided are general.

April 2

  • At 5:41 p.m., failure to notify damage/unattended vehicle happened at the Recreation Center. This case was suspended.

 

April 3

  • At 9:17 p.m., a theft of $500 and under occurred at Grant Residence Hall North. This case is open.

 

April 4

  • At 9:34 p.m., tampering with security, fire, life systems occurred at Patterson Residence Hall West. This case was closed by exception.

 

April 5

  • At 1 p.m., criminal damage to property occurred at Northern View. This case is suspended.
  • At 11:40 p.m., possession of more than 10 mg of cannabis and possession of drug equipment occurred at Neptune Residence Hall West. This case was closed by exception.

 

April 9

  • At 10:22 p.m., two instances of battery occurred at Grant Residence Hall North. This case was closed by exception.

 

April 11

  • At 8:56 a.m., disorderly conduct occurred at the Peters Campus Life Building. This case was closed by arrest.
  • At 2:29 p.m., disorderly conduct occurred at Montgomery Hall. This case was suspended.

 

April 12

  • At 7:16 p.m., an arrest for an in-state warrant occurred at 831 Crane Drive. 

 

April 14

  • At 11:02 a.m., a theft of over $500 occurred at Patterson Residence Hall West. This case was closed by exception.
  • At 3:26 p.m., criminal trespass to state supported land occurred at the Holmes Student Center. This case was closed by exception.
  • At 9:45 p.m., an arrest for an in-state warrant occurred at Gilbert Residence Hall.

 

April 16

  • At 1 a.m., theft over $500 occurred at Grant Residence Hall North. This case is open.

 

April 17

  • At 8:30 a.m., a case of leaving the scene of a property damage accident occurred at the Parking Deck, 175 Normal Road. This case is suspended.

 

April 20

  • At 11:30 a.m., retail theft and disorderly conduct occurred at Stevenson Residence Hall North. This case is open.
  • At 4:13 p.m., battery occurred at Neptune Residence Hall East. This case is open.
  • At 7:44 p.m., harassment through electronic communications occurred at the Stevenson Complex. This case is open.
  • At 9:26 p.m., tampering with security, fire, life systems occurred at Patterson Residence Hall West. This case was closed by exception.

 

April 27

  • At 9:15 a.m., all other disorderly conduct occurred at La Tourette Hall. This case was closed by arrest.
