DeKALB – NIU Athletics is set to kick off a busy third week of the 2023-2024 school year, headlined by the men’s and women’s golf teams beginning its seasons.

The Huskies look to get back in the win column with another road victory after losing their home opener to Southern Illinois University. Coming off a 36-14 loss to the University of Colorado, the Cornhuskers are in search of their first win.

NIU volleyball (1-8) finishes out non-conference play this weekend at the UNI Tournament hosted by Northern Iowa. The Huskies head to the Hawkeye State after going winless at the DePaul Invitational on Sept. 7 to Sept. 9. The tournament will pit the Huskies against three opponents in the span of two days, starting with Dayton at 11 a.m. Friday.

NIU men’s golf opens the 2023 fall competition Sunday at the Gopher Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota. The Huskies’ last tournament was the NCAA Salem Regional tournament following their first MAC Championship win since 1985. The tournament is an all day event and tees off on Sunday.

NIU cross country will travel 315 miles east to Bowling Green, Ohio, to compete in the Mel Brodt Collegiate Open on Friday. The Women’s 6,000 meter race begins at 6:05 p.m.
