DeKALB – A pair of double-double performances against Bowling Green State University have enabled NIU volleyball graduate student outside hitter Katie Erdmann to take home her first Huskie of the Week honor.
The Forreston native was a key factor in NIU’s recent series split with the defending MAC champions. Her season-high 17 kills helped lead NIU to a 3-2 triumph over the Falcons on Friday.
Erdmann tallied 32 kills on 80 swings across both matches, combining for a .238 hitting percentage. Her weekend performance puts her at third on NIU’s kills leaderboard. Her 92 kills this season trail junior outside hitter Nikolette Nedic (163) and junior middle blocker Charli Atiemo (125).
The Huskies will see their next action at 6 p.m. Friday when they host the Miami University RedHawks at Victor E. Court. The match will be NIU’s first home stand in over a month.
Next week’s Huskie of the Week will be announced on Oct. 2.
The Northern Star sports section’s Huskie of the Week is voted for on a weekly basis. Student-athletes considered for this week’s edition were chosen based on their weekly performance in competitions taking place from Sept. 18 to Sept. 24.
