Groth’s netters gain experience at Invite

Although the NIU women’s tennis team didn’t net any first-place awards at the Indiana Women’s Tennis Fall Invitational last weekend, the members snatched up valuable experience in their first invite of the season.

“The purpose of our coming to this tournament was to get a lot of playing time and experience for new people,” NIU coach Patty Groth admitted.

NIU’s Hild Andersch came out with the best team singles record at 3-1. The Huskies had one player, Sarah Murfey, compete in the No. 1 singles flight where she finished 2-2. Newcomer Breda Dean also checked in at 2-2; junior Jami Cheek ended with a 2-1 mark; and Svetlana Nedeljkovic picked up a lone victory.
