The NIU School of Music students will get a chance to perform in at the Epiphany Center For The Arts this month. The performance is the first in a series in which students have the chance to play at a large venue and highlight their skills.
The NIU Golden Hour Showcase series opens at 5 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Epiphany Center For The Arts. Located at 201 S. Ashland Ave., Chicago.
There will be three shows in this event. The first, World Music Adventure, will be at 5 p.m. and features music from around the world. The second, Chamber Music, will be at 6 p.m., and the Jazz and Mariachi will take place at 7 p.m.
Andy Dolan, the marketing and communications director for the College of Visual and Performing Arts, said this is the second year the School of Music is utilizing the space.
“We were pleased with our experience with the venue last year, so we decided to use it again this year for four more shows,” Dolan said.
The venue is for people aged 21 and older; however, younger patrons are allowed with a parent or legal guardian present.
The music shows are free, and there is a cash bar with appetizers and drinks available.
The NIU Alumni Association also has drink tickets available on its website for $15, this includes a complimentary drink.
The next show in the series will be Dec. 8.
