DeKALB – The new staple of lunchtime at NIU, Food Truck Wednesdays, will be having its final day this week for the Fall semester.
The final planned day for Food Truck Wednesday will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Wednesday. Food trucks will be parked on the closed off section of Normal Road next to the MLK Commons.
Nine food truck vendors will be available for the final day of food trucks. Prices and menu items vary from vendor to vendor.

- Got Calzoni– Calzones prepared from generational recipes originating from Basilicata, Italy.
- Little O’s– Frozen sweet treats and beverages from Ollie’s Frozen Custard.
- Sweet Butts– Cotton candy spun with ‘love’ in flavors ranging from traditional, organic, sugar free and even fall specialities.
- Main Squeeze– Fresh squeezed lemonade.
- Burritoville– Authentic Mexican lunches with seafood, chicken and vegetable options.
- Wild Fries– French fry dishes loaded with your choice of meats, cheeses and veggies.
- Big D’s Hot Dogs– Hot dogs, bratwurst and polish sausage served Chicago-style.
- Ka-Bao– Dishes served with steamed bao buns.
In case of poor weather, the final day will be rescheduled for Nov. 1.
According to an email by Jennifer Groce, director of community promotion, NIU plans on making Food Truck Wednesdays an annual part of the Fall semester. Due to the colder temperatures and rain, NIU is unsure of making Food Truck Wednesdays a regular event during the Spring semester.
The email said NIU may do pop-up events during finals week in the Fall and Spring semester, but the events are dependent on weather.
