DeKALB – A DeKalb resident was charged with armed robbery, home invasion and unlawful restraint.
On Oct. 2, the DeKalb Police Department arrived at the scene of an armed robbery and home invasion at the 100 block of South Seventh street.
When the police arrived on scene, the victim said the perpetrator approached him while he was trying to get into his vehicle. The perpetrator pulled out a gun and threatened him. He took the victim’s cell phone and money on him.
DeKalb PD used different video camera surveillance footage from surrounding areas in order to identify Anthony Redd, a 40-year-old DeKalb resident, to the home invasion.
During the search, police and the County Special Operations Team were able to locate Redd inside of the residence. They were also able to gather key evidence connecting him directly to the home invasion.
Redd allegedly forced the victim at gunpoint to retrieve his wallet from his home. After the victim retrieved his wallet, the perpetrator demanded more money. Redd reportedly threatened to kill the victim if he called the police and then left the scene with the wallet and money.
Redd is being charged with three felony charges.
