DeKALB – NIU Athletics is set for another busy slate of events, highlighted by wrestling’s quest for its 11th win of the 2024 season.

NIU men’s basketball (6-13, 0-7 MAC), losers of nine straight games, will look to get their first conference win of the season this week.
The Huskies will first travel to Mount Pleasant to take on the Central Michigan University Chippewas (11-9, 6-2 MAC), then return to DeKalb to host the Eastern Michigan University Eagles (9-11, 2-6 MAC). The Huskies’ last conference win came over Eastern Michigan in March of 2023.
Despite the Huskies’ struggles, junior guard David Coit ranks third in the MAC in points per game.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Wednesday, Jan. 31: vs. Bowling Green State University, 6 p.m.

NIU women’s basketball (9-10, 3-5 MAC) looks to get back into the win column against Bowling Green State University (10-8, 4-4 MAC) after a blowout loss in Toledo and a suspenseful defeat at the Convocation Center.
Senior forward Brooke Stonebraker ranks second in the MAC in total rebounds and 11th in total points. Stonebraker tied her career high with 20 points in Saturday’s loss to University of Akron.

The Huskies will set out to Buffalo to challenge MAC rival University at Buffalo for their sixth conference dual of the season. Fueled by two key returnees two months removed from action, NIU reached the 10-win threshold for the first time in four years.

Friday, Feb. 2 and Saturday, Feb. 3: Meyo Classic

NIU track and field travels to South Bend, Ind., for the annual Meyo Classic, hosted by the University of Notre Dame. The Huskies are coming off of a one day event at Olivet Nazarene University last week. Live stats for this meet will be available via enduranceracetiming.com.

NIU men’s tennis (3-2) will remain within state lines for its next bout as the Huskies trek to nearby Homewood to take on the Chicago State Cougars.
NIU seeks its first road win after losses to Mississippi State University (0-7, Jan. 14) and Drake University (1-6, Jan. 20) away from home.

NIU women’s tennis (0-2) remains winless after dropping its first two matches of the dual match season. The Huskies fell to 24th-ranked University of Wisconsin and James Madison University last weekend to open 2024 in the loss column.
Still at home to begin the February slate, NIU seeks to upend visitors Marquette and Bellarmine – splitting a four-match homestand in the process.
