Try to recycle

In the August 28 issue of The Northern Star Linda Warchal addressed the important issue of litter and the lack of cleanliness on our university’s campus.

I agree with Linda and her “give a hoot, don’t pollute” slogan. But Linda overlooked the equally if not more important issue of recycling.

What seems almost as ridiculous as finding cans, paper, plastic and glass on the ground, is finding those items in a regular garbage can. Just about everyone knows where they can deposit an aluminum can or a piece of paper. Also a good majority knows where the NIU recycling center is located (just west of he Stevenson Towers).

So try and do as I do. After reading your Northern Star and finishing your pop or juice under a tree at the East Lagoon, empty the drink completely and put that and your paper back in your bookbag until you pass one of the cans for that recycled material.
