The (13-2, 7-1 MAC) Huskies travel to Kent, Ohio for the 2024 MAC Championships. The battle-tested Huskies enter Kent with a week’s worth of rest following a MAC West title clincher over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (6-6, 3-4 MAC) on Feb. 23.

After being eliminated from MAC Tournament contention thanks to Western Michigan University’s March 2 win, NIU men’s basketball (10-19, 4-12 MAC) wraps up its season this week in Huskie sports.
The Huskies left Ohio with a split of the MAC’s two best teams last week, taking down the University of Toledo Rockets (18-11, 12-4 MAC) Feb. 27 and coming up short against the University of Akron Zips (21-8, 13-3 MAC) March 2.
The Huskies play their final home game of the season against the Central Michigan University Chippewas (16-13, 10-6 MAC) Tuesday and will then travel to New York to finish their season against the University at Buffalo Bulls (4-25, 2-14 MAC). Junior guard David Coit poured in a career high 35 points in last week’s loss to Akron, surpassing the 1000 career point milestone in the process.

NIU women’s basketball (13-15, 6-10 MAC) heads to Oxford, Ohio, to face off against the Redhawks (8-19, 5-11 MAC) at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The Huskies’ next stop is noon Saturday against the Western Michigan University Broncos (12-15, 7-9 MAC).

NIU baseball (3-10) finished last week 1-4, dropping a stand-alone game to the University of Iowa Hawkeyes (5-6) Feb. 27 and losing three of four games to the University of Cincinnati Bearcats (7-5) last weekend. The Huskies will look for a fresh start this week in Huskie sports as they open up MAC play Friday with a three game set against the Ohio University Bobcats (3-6).
Freshman pitcher Ty Brachbill earned his second win of the season in the Huskies’ lone win last week, allowing zero earned runs in five innings pitched. Senior catcher/outfielder Colin Summerhill was a nightmare for opposing pitching last week, hitting 6-for-18 with three home runs and eight RBIs.

NIU gymnastics (8-10-1, 1-4 MAC) returns home to compete at home for the last time this season. The Huskies will host MAC foe Ball State (12-4, 3-1 MAC) for their last conference meet before the MAC Championships on March 23. Sunday’s meet will also serve as NIU’s senior day.

After its third consecutive tournament with a losing record, NIU softball (4-10) heads to Missoula, Montana, to face the College of the Holy Cross Crusaders (0-6) for two games and the University of Montana Grizzlies (6-14) for three games.
The Huskies look to find a groove as they fell to mercy rule twice and were outscored 29-8 in four games in the Western Kentucky Hilltopper Spring Fling Tournament.
