DeKALB – Senior golfer Emily Romancew earned her first Huskie of the Week honor of her career after finishing first overall at the Northern Arizona University Red Rocks Invitational Sunday. Eleven birdies propelled Romancew into the three-under par score of 213.
Romancew kicked off the tournament shooting one-under par, leaving the first round with 71 strokes. The second round was her worst round with 72 strokes, even-par.
Romancew rounded out the tournament with her best of the tournament, logging 70 strokes in the final round.
The first-place finish marks Romancew’s second top-10 finish of the spring season. In the Huskies’ last tournament – Bowling Green State University Women’s Intercollegiate – Romancew finished tied for 10th place following a tournament score of 225.
NIU’s next tournament is an all-day event stretching Monday through Tuesday at the Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Georgia, and hosted by Kennesaw State University.
Next week’s Huskie of the Week will be announced March 25.
