DeKALB – The information in this report is compiled from the NIU Police Department’s Daily Crime Log.

Any case defined as “unfounded” was not included in this list. Any “closed by exception” case is closed due to circumstances outside the investigation (missing a complainant, suspect was arrested for another crime, etc.). Any “suspended” case means the investigation is paused until leads become available. All case dispositions (“open” or “closed” statuses) are subject to updates. All locations provided are general.

MARCH 1 

  • At 1:34 p.m., stalking occurred at the Founders Memorial Library. This case is suspended. 
  • At 7 p.m., theft over $500 occurred at Patterson Residence Hall West. This case is suspended. 

MARCH 3 

  • At 11:18 p.m., tampering with security, fire or life systems occurred at 1 Northern View Circle. This case is suspended. 

MARCH 4

  • At 10 a.m., criminal defacement of property occurred at the Recreation Center. This case is suspended. 

MARCH 5 

  • At 4:59 p.m., an in-state warrant violation occurred at 917 Greenbrier Road. This case is closed by arrest. 

MARCH 6 

  • At 3:15 a.m.,  an in-state warrant violation occurred at Neptune Residence Hall East. This case is closed by arrest. 
  • At 6:17 p.m., theft under $500 occurred at Patterson Residence Hall East. This case is unfounded. 
  • At 7:47 p.m., criminal trespass to real property occurred at Neptune Central. This case is closed by arrest. 
  • At 8:21 p.m., criminal trespass to real property occurred at the Holmes Student Center. This case is closed by arrest. 

MARCH 7 

  • At 2:21 a.m., stalking occurred at Neptune Residence Hall East. This case is suspended. 

MARCH 8 

  • At 3:54 a.m., battery occurred at Stevenson Residence Hall South,. This case is closed by exception. 
  • At 12:45 p.m., illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor occurred at Neptune Residence Hall North. This case is closed by exception. 
  • At 2:57 p.m., criminal trespass to real property occurred at  Neptune Residence Hall West . This case is closed by arrest. 
  • At 3:20 p.m., unlawful use of a weapon, three counts of burglary, two counts of criminal trespass to real property and three counts of mob action occurred at Stevenson Residence Hall North. This case is open.

  • At 10:02 a.m., battery occurred at Neptune Residence Hall East. This case is suspended. 

MARCH 11

  • At 3:46 p.m., tampering with security, fire or life systems occurred at Stevenson Residence Hall South. This case is closed by exception. 

MARCH 12 

  • At 3:05 p.m., criminal trespass to state-supported land occurred at the Holmes Student Center. This case is closed by exception. 
  • At 6 p.m., all other disorderly conduct occurred at the Recreation Center. This case is closed by exception. 
  • At 9:40 p.m., domestic battery occurred at 590 Garden Road. This case was closed by arrest. 

MARCH 13

  • At 6 a.m., a bomb threat occurred at Williston Hall, 350 Normal Road. This case is suspended. 
  • At 4:30 pm., criminal damage to property occurred at 2280 Bethany Road. This case is suspended. 

MARCH 14 

  • At 10:13 p.m., criminal trespass to real property occurred at Stevenson Residence Hall South. This case is closed by exception. 

MARCH 18 

  • At 4:29 p.m., battery occurred at Grant Residence Hall North. This case is open. 

MARCH 19 

  • At 2:50 p.m., burglary occurred in DeKalb. This case was referred to another agency. 
  • At 7:55 p.m., aggravated assault occurred at Grant Residence Hall North. This case is open. 

MARCH 20 

  • At 7:08 a.m., leaving the scene of property damage accident occurred at 155 Castle Drive and Lincoln Terrace Drive. This case is suspended.

  • At 10:30 a.m., theft of $500 and under occurred at Stevenson Residence Hall North. This case is closed by exception. 
  • At 8:44 p.m., criminal trespass to real property and resist/obstruct officer/firefighter/correction officer occurred at Grant Residence Hall North. This case is closed by arrest. 
  • At 11:57 p.m., disorderly conduct occurred at the Grant Complex. This case is suspended.

  • At 1 a.m., illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor occurred at Patterson Residence Hall West. This case is closed by exception. 

MARCH 27 

  • At 11 a.m., harassment through electronic communication and theft over $500 occurred at Stevenson Residence Hall North. This case is suspended. 
  • At 1:45 p.m., burglary and theft from a motor vehicle occurred at Lot 3, 300 Gilbert Drive. This case is open. 
  • At 5:55 p.m., theft over $500 occurred at Stevenson Residence Hall North. This case is closed by arrest. 
  • At 5:55 p.m., obstructing justice occurred at Stevenson Residence Hall North. This case is closed by exception.

  • At 2:25 a.m., illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor occurred at the Stevenson Complex. This case was referred to another agency.
