After three consecutive years of finishing in second place at the MAC Championships, NIU women’s golf searches for the elusive MAC title beginning Sunday.
NIU men’s golf is set to defend its 2023 MAC Championships title as they travel to Westfield, Indiana, this week in Huskie sports.
MEN’S GOLF

NIU men’s golf approaches its last tournament of the season, competing in the MAC Championship Friday. The championship is an all-day event and spans from Friday through Sunday in Westfield, Indiana. The Huskies found success at the 2023 MAC Championships, taking first place.
The Huskies finished tied for seventh place at their last tournament Sunday, the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate. Junior Ben Sluzas led the charge, tying for 18th place.

NIU women’s golf competes in the MAC Championships Sunday at Pinnacle Golf Club in Grove City, Ohio. The tournament is an all-day event stretching from Sunday through Tuesday.
The Huskies took third in their last tournament, the Oral Roberts Spring Invite. NIU keyed two top-five finishes as senior Emily Romancew took third place and senior Jasmine Ly tied for fifth place.

In a disappointing week that saw the Huskies go 1-2, senior outfielder/catcher Colin Summerhill broke NIU’s single- season home run record with his 176th home run of the season. Summerhill continued his hot streak by slugging two home runs over the Huskies’ three- game set against Kent State.
Redshirt sophomore pitcher Adam Brouwer turned in a phenomenal performance in Saturday’s matchup against Kent State, as the young right hander went 7.2 innings with five strikeouts while giving up one earned run.

After a 1-4 week, NIU softball (13-29, 6-14 MAC) looks for some wins against two teams ranking last place in their conference, starting with a Tuesday doubleheader against Valparaiso University (8-32, 2-15 MVC).
On Friday, the Huskies face the only team below them in the MAC standings, the Bowling Green State University Falcons (5-30, 2-17 MAC).

NIU track and field will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, for a three-day invitational hosted by Drake University. The Huskies will also travel to Olivet Nazarene University for the second time this season for the ONU Outdoor Invitational.
Junior Emma Vorpagel is coming off her second- best finish in the 800-meter run this season, as she claimed fourth place this past weekend at the Michael Johnson Invitational. Vorpagel’s time of 2 minutes, 14.33 seconds was just .02 seconds away from her personal best time.
