The NIU softball team cheers on freshman designated hitter Alana Powell (8) at home plate after she hit a home run to center field in the third inning of the first game. NIU hit three home runs in the third inning, first by senior first baseman Caitlyn Shumaker (3), then Powell and freshman designated hitter Alana Powell (8) adding four runs to NIU’s score, helping NIU beat Ball State 9-2. Totus Tuus Keely is a junior from Ottawa, Illinois, majoring in mechatronics engineering. He began as a photographer in the spring 2024 semester. Outside of his busy class schedule, Totus enjoys photographing sports and capturing the emotions of fans and players. He also enjoys performing in the World Music Program and the NIU Pep Band, as well as constantly expanding his musical taste.
