DeKALB – NIU Athletics announced Friday a contract extension with Vice President and Director of Athletics and Recreation Sean Frazier that will tie him to the university through June 30, 2027.
Frazier, who enters his 12th year at the helm of NIU Athletics, expressed gratitude toward university leadership in an NIU Athletics news release.
“I’m grateful for the support of President Freeman, university leadership and the NIU community as we navigate the rapidly changing landscape of college athletics,” Frazier said in the release. “We will continue to work extremely hard on a daily basis to move NIU Athletics and Recreation, and Northern Illinois University, forward.”
The contract extension signed by NIU President Lisa Freeman on July 17 will increase his base salary from $344,317 to $359,997.11.
Since taking the NIU job in July 2013, Frazier has overseen 14 MAC Championships, the most conference titles won under any athletic administration in school history, according to NIU Athletics.
“Under Sean Frazier’s leadership, NIU Athletics and Huskie student-athletes continue to be a point of pride for the entire university,” Freeman said in the release. “His experience and ability to navigate change while remaining focused on NIU’s core values and mission is extremely important as the national landscape of intercollegiate athletics continues to evolve.”
