DeKALB – A heat advisory is in effect for DeKalb until 8 p.m. Monday, and DeKalb is in an excessive heat warning from Tuesday afternoon to Tuesday evening.
Heat index values are expected to be 105 degrees to 109 degrees including heat indexes, with the temperature Tuesday being a high of 94 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service recommends drinking plenty of fluids – excluding caffeine – and staying in an air-conditioned room, out of the sun.
The National Weather Service also recommends staying cool by using fans or by taking a cool bath or shower.
The city of DeKalb has cooling centers available for people to stay cool during hot weather. A list of DeKalb’s cooling centers is available on the city of DeKalb website.
