EDITOR’S NOTE: This video is part 2 in a series about Greek Life. We will cover the Divine Nine and Multicultural Greek Councils.
Formal recruitment is approaching quickly for Panhellenic sororities.
For the five Panhellenic sororities with houses – Sigma Sigma Sigma, Alpha Phi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Delta Gamma and Delta Zeta – formal recruitment is a three-day process from Sept. 27 through 29.
“It gives any of our NIU students an opportunity to join any of our five national Panhellenic chapters by visiting those houses and having conversations with all of their active members about our values, our sisterhoods and our community,” said Mary Nelson, a senior marketing major, member of Alpha Phi and Panhellenic Council vice president of membership.
On each of these days, students can get to know each of these sororities and find which one is the best fit for them.
For the other three Panhellenic sororities, Sigma Lambda Sigma, Sigma Lambda Gamma and Lambda Theta Alpha, the recruitment process is a little different.
They do not participate in the formal recruitment process but host their own events for students to get to know their sororities.
For information on these sororities or their future events, you can look to their Instagrams or visit involvement fairs on campus.
If you want to get involved with Greek Life for the community or philanthropy, now is the time to do it.
“Students should go Panhellenic because it’s an opportunity to make friends and sisterhoods here at NIU,” Nelson said. “It also gives you an opportunity to become involved on campus and dedicate your time to service as well as our philanthropy efforts.”
More information on the Panhellenic Council’s formal recruitment process or its sororities can be found through their Instagram.
