NIU men’s golf exited the Purdue Fall Invitational placing 13th out of 15 teams. Senior Felix Krammer led the pack, finishing tied for 13th place – his best placement and first time in the top-15 this season.
Krammer kicked off the tournament shooting a 75 in the first round, but a score of 70 in the second round boosted him into 19th place. His second round score is his lowest of the season – five strokes under his previous low.
Krammer rounded out the tournament with a score of 71, ticketing his way in the top-15.
As a team, the Huskies totaled 894 strokes across the tournament, 3 strokes behind 12th place Western Kentucky University. The Huskies kicked off the tournament shooting a 302 in the first round and a 289 in the second round – the teams’ best round score this season.
NIU exited the tournament with a score of 303 in the third round.
Finishing tied for 28th place, senior Ben Sluzas was the Huskies’ second golfer. Sluzas shot a 73 in the first round, causing him to jump into 15th place early. A second round showing of 70 propelled Sluzas into the top-ten, but a score of 77 in third round knocked him out.
Three freshmen made up the remainder of NIU’s lineup; Beau Petersen made his third collegiate start, Jack Mulligan participated in his second collegiate start and Patrick Raupp geared up for his collegiate debut.
Raupp was the Huskies’ third best golfer. Raupp opened the tournament with a score of 76 in the first round and a score of 75 in the second. A third round score of 80 bit Raupp, cementing his 63rd place finish.
Tying for 66th place, Petersen finished three-strokes behind Raupp. Petersen kicked off the tournament with a score of 78 in the first round, 79 in the second round and finished with a score of 77 in the third round.
Rounding out the lineup, Mulligan took 74th place. A score of 86 in the first round held Mulligan back as he produced a score of 74 in the second round and 78 in the third round.
