DeKALB – Graduate student goalkeeper Ary Purifoy earned the first Huskie of the Week Award of her career after recording her fourth shutout of the season on Sunday.
Purifoy is now tied for third in the MAC in shutouts.
After tying 1-1 with Miami University on Thursday, Purifoy picked up 8 saves.
Purifoy totaled 11 saves across the week, letting in 1 goal between the two games. In the second game – Sunday against Ohio University – Purifoy stood her ground, not allowing a goal in the 0-0 tie.
Sunday’s game was the eighth time Purifoy has held opposing offenses to one or less goals this season.
Next week’s Huskie of the Week will be announced Sept. 30.
The Northern Star sports section’s Huskie of the Week is voted for on a weekly basis. Student-athletes considered for this week’s edition were chosen based on their weekly performance in competitions taking place from Sept. 16 to Sept. 22.
