Play, whether it be with various toys, games, sports or recreational competitions, is a fundamental aspect of the human experience.
This theme is at the heart of NIU’s latest upcoming exhibit “At Play,” which has its opening reception Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Pick Museum of Anthropology, located in Cole Hall, Room 114.
The exhibition was put together and coordinated by a group of students over the course of the spring and summer.
These students include Annalisa Amber, Ben Driver, Rebekah Eaton, Sinta Febrina, Spencer Mosner and Abby DeeWaard.
The exhibit will look at the concept of play, fun and engaging activities that people participate in throughout their lives.
Other prominent topics include competition, health and well-being, imagination, connections and belonging.
Different segments of the show will include ball games, primate play, dolls, video games, role-playing, educational toys and the Olympic Games.
The opening reception will feature a tour and play activities by the student curators who made the exhibit.
“At Play” will be on display until May 10.
