Move over, pumpkin spice, there’s new fall favorites for drinks and lattes this season: crisp apple and toasty almond.

STARBUCKS
With several locations near DeKalb, such as at 1015 W. Lincoln Highway and in the Holmes Student Center, Starbucks is convenient to get your fall beverage. Their Iced Apple Crisp Non-dairy Cream Chai includes chai, oat milk, nondairy cold foam and spiced apple.
A delicious mixture of oats, apples, seasonal spices and brown sugar, this drink is bound to make you think of home and simple times.
DUNKIN’
The Almond Spice coffee at Dunkin’, 1101 W. Lincoln Highway, has pumpkin syrup, almond milk and toasted almond syrup.
An alternative to plain pumpkin spice, this almond spice brings in deep notes of nutty and almond flavors that are sure to spice up your drink experience. It can be served either hot or cold.
CARIBOU COFFEE
The Honeycrisp Apple Caramel High Rise at Caribou Coffee, 2700 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, is made with real Honeycrisp apples, espresso, steamed milk, whipped cream and caramel drizzle.
Caribou Coffee lightens up its menu with a number of Honeycrisp apple inclusions. This drink is definitely the standout, with rich caramel flavors pairing perfectly with the apple and floral notes, and is a sweet treat that can be enjoyed either hot or iced.
SHAWN’S COFFEE
The Vampire Brew coffee at Shawn’s Coffee, 204 Somonauk St., Sycamore, includes iced raspberry mocha with raspberry drizzle, whipped cream and Halloween-themed sprinkles.
Get into the Halloween season with this delightful raspberry mocha. Simmering with warm chocolate notes, sweet raspberry and whipped cream, this brew is sure to please both coffee lovers and those with a sweet tooth.
CAST IRON COFFEE
Cast Iron Coffee, 901 Lucinda Ave. Suite D, has many fall drinks to try this season. The campfire latte is made with toasted marshmallow, mocha, espresso and steamed milk.
The toasted marshmallow flavor makes the drink taste like s’mores, and it’s absolutely delicious. In a dreamy way, it is reminiscent of summer campfires and how even in the fall we can yearn for sweet memories.
The caramel apple slushie includes apple, honey, whipped cream and salted caramel.
Made from apples supplied by the local Jonamac Orchard, this sweet treat is truly a delight. It tastes like caramel candy apples in slushie form and is a true DeKalb County experience. Not to mention, it’s my personal favorite.
Their taffy apple chai has chai, taffy apple tang and whipped cream.
Another local treat, this candy apple flavor combo is definitely one to try with its sweet apple flavors that pair wonderfully with chai spice and floral notes. This concoction is only available iced.
