Led by goals in each match last week, graduate student midfielder Abby Zipse has earned Huskie of the Week for the second week in a row.
In the same match in which she eclipsed Debbie Huston for the most games played for NIU women’s soccer, Zipse scored the Huskies’ final goal in a 3-1 victory over Ball State University Thursday. This was her second consecutive match with a goal.
On Sunday, Zipse found the net once more, tallying the lone goal for the Huskies in a 1-1 tie with the University of Toledo in NIU’s final home match contest of the season.
Zipse is tied for third on the team in goals with all 3 goals coming in the last three games.
The Huskies play their final match of the 2024 regular season Thursday, aiming to earn a place in the Mid-American Conference Championship Tournament.
Next week’s Huskie of the Week will be announced Nov. 4.
The Northern Star sports section’s Huskie of the Week is voted for on a weekly basis. Student-athletes considered for this week’s edition were chosen based on their weekly performance in competitions taking place from Oct. 21 to Oct. 27.
