Trends come and go in the blink of an eye, but something that hasn’t changed is the need for hydration – and the desire for the coolest water bottle in town. In every place, there will be someone with a water bottle in tow.
There are countless water bottle brands, but two of the most popular brands currently are Stanley and Owala. How do these water bottles compare?
STANLEY
Stanley has been around since 1913 but rebranded its drinkware to suit a different audience. It gained popularity on TikTok, especially after a woman posted her Stanley cup and its ice surviving a car fire.
A popular tumbler on the website is the 40 oz. Quencher H2.0 Flowstate. This classic cup has over 40 colors to choose from.
The 40 oz tumbler gives consumers a large size capacity. Despite its size, the Quencher along with many other Stanley cups are car cup holder friendly. Another plus is that the cups are dishwasher safe.
“It keeps all of my drinks cold,” said Ashlyn Webb, a first-year nursing major.
However, the Stanley does leak, said Webb.
The Stanley cup can be ordered on their website with sizes ranging from 14 oz. to 64 oz. Depending on the style of the tumbler, the price varies.
OWALA
Owala is a drinkware company that launched in 2020 and has become more popular since then. A best seller for the brand is their FreeSip bottle. This quirkier-looking bottle has 20 colors to choose from, but it shines with its design.
The FreeSip allows consumers to either sip from the built-in straw or drink from the wide-mouth opening. It also has a carry loop that when closed, locks the bottle, making it leak-proof and keeping the straw away from germs.
“It’s very spill proof, and I knock things over a lot, and it’s easy,” said Maccenna Fischer, a sophomore psychology major. “It has both the sip with a straw and you can dump it in your mouth, so you basically get every last drop out of it, even though it has a straw.”
The FreeSip does have great features, but its biggest drawback is cleaning it. The bottle itself needs to be hand washed, but the lid is dishwasher safe. However, the lid contains a silicone seal with some hard to clean places.
Owala water bottles can be ordered on their website. This bottle ranges from 24 oz. to 40 oz. The 40 oz. FreeSip costs $37.99.
The Stanley cup has been popular after being displayed as an aesthetic alternative to other cups and bottles.
Owala is a newer brand that has picked up traction among the water bottle trends by being viewed as functional and colorful.
Both have their different features, but which one is better?
