DeKALB – With DeKalb County ballots still being counted until Nov. 18 or 19, voter turnout at the DeKalb County polls in 2024 increased by 2% compared to the 2020 election.
In the 2020 general election, DeKalb County had a 75% turnout compared to a 71% voting turnout during the 2016 general election. As of Wednesday, DeKalb County had a 77% voter turnout in the 2024 election.
However, the number of ballots cast has decreased in the 2024 election compared to the 2020 election. In the 2020 election, 47,982 people cast their ballot compared to 47,682 people in the 2024 election.
The number of registered voters in DeKalb County, compared to 2020, has also decreased by 1,595 people. In 2020, 63,841 people were registered to vote in DeKalb County compared to 62,246 in DeKalb County during the 2024 election.
Of the 47,682 ballots cast Tuesday in DeKalb County, 24,937 have been tabulated as of Wednesday, including 4,821 vote-by-mail ballots and 17,924 early voting ballots.
