This album consists of multiple emotions Future felt in his past and present. Listeners can interpret his songs, such as “Lil Demon” and “Oath,” as Future Taking the role of Pluto, which is a recurring character from his previous album“Pluto” (2012) where his tracks focused on romance. 

While reflecting on his current experiences, Pluto gives listeners a taste of his complex emotions balancing love, perseverance and personal struggles. 

He describes his emotions, either lacking or in depth about the reality of his relationships. Whether this be love or lust, he is blunt in his words of song choice. Each of the 17 tracks on “Mixtape Pluto” detail how he became the artist he is today. Future also released a short trailer teasing the release of “Mixtape Pluto” last month. The scene is set in a cheap hotel room, followed by cop sirens and sunny palm trees. Future is then seen in a photo shoot promoting women, his luxurious desires and fancy cars. The black and white clash with the background music showcases “Mixtape Pluto’s” intriguing intro following the album. The vibe of the background music tunnels the perspective onto Future, being in black and white in a dramatic yet performing artistic approach. He is fashionable in the way he brings his visuals of himself for listeners to see in his music videos. 

The trailer shows Future in a hotel room with the sounds of police sirens and his music playing in the background. This small taste of the album drew fans in for this return as Pluto.

The house on the cover is based on the home of Rico Wade, founder of“Organized Noize” and Future’s cousin.  This throwback to the dedication of time and the people around him, is his authentic vibration flowing into his songs. His appreciation is shown through his work. A heartfelt experience in the making of his album.

Future dedicated an Instagram post to Wade after his death as a thank you for  helping him gain his fame. As a mentor and visionary producer, Wade helped pave the way for Future, as he has done for many other artists in the Southern hip hop industry including Outkast Goodie Mob and Ludacris.  

“Life wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for my cousin. Love u forever,” Future said in the post.

Future’s perception of life and his experiences are clear in his music. The 16th track, “Lost My Dog,” meditates on mental health and the loss of a friend to fentanyl overdose.
