NIU football redshirt senior wide receiver Trayvon Rudolph earned this week’s Huskie of the Week Award following a 2-touchdown performance Wednesday in NIU’s 29-16 victory over the University of Akron Zips.
Despite finishing fourth on the team in receiving yards, Rudolph finished second in total yards with 116-57 rushing yards, 39 passing yards and 20 receiving yards. In the process, Rudolph scored 2 touchdowns.
His first came midway through the first quarter, firing through an opening on the right side of the Huskies’ offensive line on his way to a 57-yard rushing touchdown. Rudolph remained untouched during the scoring rush and gave NIU a 10-6 lead.
Rudolph extended the Huskies’ lead to 17-6 later in the first quarter, connecting with redshirt sophomore wide receiver Dane Pardridge for a 39-yard passing touchdown.
Rudolph and the Huskies’ return to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Miami (Ohio) University in Oxford, Ohio, in a battle for the Mallory Cup. The game will be aired on ESPN with live stats available through SIDEARM Sports.
Next week’s Huskie of the Week will be announced Dec. 2.
